The origins of this full-body endurance sport go back to antiquity, where when there was no wind for the sails, the ships had to be moved by oars. One of the oldest and most prestigious rowing regattas in the world is still held in London today – the eighth rowing race between the universities of Oxford and Cambridge on the Thames.
